Proper 6
Welcome to Christ The King Church

To new and old friends visiting CTK, we are filled with joy that you are with us. The mission of our church is to make, train, and send disciples to engage our neighbors and nations with the gospel of Jesus. As a local body of believers in the resurrected Jesus, we value gospel centrality, simplicity, diversity, and gospel engagement. If you would like a bit more information on our church connect with one of our volunteers, connect with me, or explore the ‘about’ portion of our website accessible above.

Again, we’re thankful you’re here with us today! Please make yourself at home.

Call to Worship
Psalm 116:1-2, 12-19

I love the Lord, because he has heard
my voice and my pleas for mercy.
Because he inclined his ear to me,
therefore I will call on him as long as I live

12 What shall I render to the Lord
for all his benefits to me?
13 I will lift up the cup of salvation
and call on the name of the Lord,
14 I will pay my vows to the Lord
in the presence of all his people.

15 Precious in the sight of the Lord
is the death of his saints.
16 O Lord, I am your servant;
I am your servant, the son of your maidservant.
    You have loosed my bonds.
17 I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving
and call on the name of the Lord.
18 I will pay my vows to the Lord
in the presence of all his people,
19 in the courts of the house of the Lord,
    in your midst, O Jerusalem.
Praise the Lord!

Collect: Almighty Father, who has given your only Son to die for our sins, and to rise again for our justification: Grant to us to put away the leaven of malice and wickedness, that we may always serve you in pureness of living and truth, through the merits of the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Matthew 9:35-10:8

9:35 And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

10:1 And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction. The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them, “Go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay.

Romans 5:1-8

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Lord’s Supper
Response

As we respond to God’s word we want to invite believers in Jesus to join us in taking the Lord’s Supper in obedience to his instruction laid out by Paul in 1 Corinthians 11:23-26. This is also a time of giving for those who came prepared for that. You can give financial gifts through the giving tab above to your right or in the giving box located by the door as you exit. Thank you for your generosity in supporting gospel ministry through CTK and Bible Translation.

Dismissal

Jesus is the Word made flesh in our midst.
May his incarnation fill your hearts with joy and peace.
Jesus is the promised Savior, born of Mary.
May his birth among us renew your hope.
Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords.
May gifts of his presence bring forth rejoicing.
Almighty God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
Bless you now and forever.
Amen.
